Kid Food Nation: a community-based food literacy program / Défi des p’tits chefs: programme communautaire de littérature alimentaire

Theme: Fostering Food Literacy
Kid Food Nation aims to improve the health of 7 to 12-year-old children by enhancing their food literacy in a fun and interactive way. The program is run through after-school programs delivered in Boys and Girls Clubs across the country and is complemented by TV and web content and a recipe contest. This session will share elements of the Kid Food Nation program, key learnings from running a structured program across different community sites, and the program’s preliminary evaluation results.
Thème: Favoriser la littératie alimentaire
Le Défi des p’tits chefs a pour but d’améliorer la santé des enfants de 7 à 12 ans en perfectionnant leurs compétences et connaissances en alimentation de façon amusante et interactive. Offert après la classe dans des Repaires jeunesse partout au Canada, le programme est complété par un contenu Web et télévisé ainsi qu’un concours de recettes. Cet atelier traitera des composantes du Défi des p’tits chefs, des principales leçons apprises par ceux qui ont dirigé ce programme structuré dans différents milieux communautaires et des résultats de l’évaluation préliminaire du programme.
